Planned Parenthood Association of Sierra Leone (PPASL) is a leading provider and advocate of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services in Sierra Leone since 1959.
The Association provides a wide range of SRH services to improve the health and quality of life for marginalized and underserved women and girls, with a focus on increasing access to maternal health care, including antenatal and postnatal care, paediatric care, prevention, management, and treatment of infertility and subfertility, sexually transmitted infections, and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), HIV counselling and testing, and family planning.
Offers guidance and resources to help individuals and couples make informed decisions about pregnancy, birth control, and reproductive health.
Provides a safe space for individuals to discuss concerns or questions about sexual health, intimacy, and personal identity.
Supports couples in navigating challenges, improving communication, and strengthening their emotional connections.
Focuses on maternal health, offering prenatal care, delivery assistance, and postnatal support to ensure safe pregnancies and healthy births.
Provides medical advice, testing, and treatments to assist individuals and couples facing challenges with conceiving.
PPASL has static clinics and outlets in eight of the sixteen districts in Sierra Leone. However, PPASL is providing services in a total of eleven districts through mobile and outreach clinical services, including community-based service providers and distributors.

PPASL’s Governance structure comprises seven Board members known as the National Executive Committee (NEC). The NEC is directly responsible for provision of oversight role in the implementation of the organization’s policies by the Senior Management Team (SMT). The composition of NEC: the committee consists of Two (2) Honorary Officers of the Association, and Five (5) members nominated and elected, and has at least 20% of the NEC members are youth representatives (male and female) between the ages of 18-24, while 50% are women elected by the Annual General Assembly from various fields ranging from medicine/public health, social sciences/humanities, law, communication/media, finance/business management, to education.
