The Youth Action Movement Sierra Leone (YAMSL) is the youth volunteer body of Planned Parenthood Association of Sierra Leone (PPASL). The Movement was formed for greater and more active youth participation and inclusion into PPASL’s overall implementation. YAMSL is made up of self-motivated volunteers who are engaged in promoting a positive lifestyle and providing information relating to Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRH&R) amongst their peers in schools and at the community level through advocacy, community mobilization, and awareness-raising campaigns.
On the 12th – 13th of December 2024, YAMSL held its Annual Youth Forum at the PPASL office in Port Loko District, where Madam Rosaline Judy was elected as YAMSL’s National President.
Madam Rosaline Judy has served the Movement as Western Area and National Secretary-General for two consecutive terms. She has a wealth of experience in SRHR issues at the national and international levels.
Rosaline Judy is a household name when it comes to Youth Advocacy. She started her advocacy journey as a child advocate with the Youth and Child Advocacy Network (YACAN), where she advocated for children through radio presentations on various issues affecting children. She was part of the first-ever Children’s Mock Parliament that discussed the Child Rights Act and the Bill Prohibiting Child Marriage. Her passion for advocacy and SRH became stronger after her transition from adolescent to youth, and she decided to join YAMSL.
She has worked with reputable organizations like Health Alert as the youth coordinator, facilitating and coordinating adolescents and young people; she served as the youth voice during the Family Planning 2030 commitment drafting for Sierra Leone, as well as the Compact Plus Agreement with UNFPA and the Government of Sierra Leone. She is also a member of the Adolescents and Youth Mechanism (AYM) steering committee that conducts the National Youth and Adolescents Conference on Family Planning every year, which brings together adolescents and youth across the country.
In 2022, she represented Sierra Leone at the UNFPA’s Supplies Chain Program during the International Conference on Family Planning held in Thailand, where she spoke on working in hard-to-reach communities and how to address the unmet needs of Family Planning for young people.
